A message from our CEO

Fredrick Kasina on why sustainable, community-led solutions are turning AiRD's vision of developed and empowered communities into reality.

January 20, 2026 Fredrick Kasina, Chief Executive Officer Nairobi Opinion

Across Kenya, many communities continue to face complex challenges—from unemployment and poverty to climate change, limited access to safe water and institutional capacity gaps. Addressing these challenges requires sustainable, community-led solutions that empower people to shape their own future.

Guided by our vision of a developed and empowered community, AiRD works through four interconnected thematic areas: Economic Empowerment and Livelihoods, WASH, Climate Change and Capacity Building and Institutional Strengthening. By equipping communities with knowledge, skills and linking them to opportunities, we are helping build resilience and create lasting change.

Since 2015, our programs have empowered over 30,000 young people, reached more than 10,000 households and extended our impact across 16 counties in Kenya. These achievements are a testament to what can be accomplished through collaboration, innovation and a shared commitment to sustainable development.

I extend my sincere appreciation to our development partners, donors, government institutions, communities and dedicated staff whose unwavering support has made this journey possible. Together, we are turning our vision into reality and building a future where every community has the opportunity to thrive.
