Enhancing Rural Women and Youth Engagement in Entrepreneurship

AiRD's approach to bringing more rural women and young people into meaningful enterprise.

March 22, 2017 Project News

Rural women and youth face a familiar set of barriers to enterprise: limited access to finance, weak market linkages and few role models. AiRD's programmes tackle each of these deliberately.

Training is combined with mentorship and, where appropriate, small start-up kits. Groups are linked to buyers, cooperatives and county extension services so that new enterprises are not launched into a vacuum.

The result is a growing cohort of rural entrepreneurs whose businesses are built on real markets — not on grant cycles.
